Il existe plusieurs m\u00e9thodes pour augmenter la r\u00e9tention de la proth\u00e8se totale. Chez les patients \u00e2g\u00e9s, deux ou trois implants sont pos\u00e9s et la r\u00e9tention est augment\u00e9e avec leur aide. Elle doit \u00eatre renouvel\u00e9e tous les 5 ans. En termes de sant\u00e9, il est peu pratique d&rsquo;utiliser des dents en porcelaine dans les zones arri\u00e8re des proth\u00e8ses totales, les dents en plastique pouvant entra\u00eener une d\u00e9coloration et une usure au fil du temps. C&rsquo;est pourquoi il est recommand\u00e9 d&rsquo;utiliser des dents en porcelaine dans les r\u00e9gions ant\u00e9rieures et des dents en acrylique dans les r\u00e9gions molaires post\u00e9rieures.
